Whamos Ltd was incorporated in 2020 — but the experience behind it goes back 20 years. Bill Amos has been building websites, doing SEO, and developing web software since before most of the platforms and frameworks that now dominate the industry existed. Two decades of watching what works, what fails, and what clients actually need from a digital agency.

We are based at Unit 13B, Devonshire Road Industrial Estate, Millom, LA18 4JS. Our office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 9am to 4pm — but we are available outside these hours for clients with urgent requirements. We are a genuinely local Cumbrian agency, not a remote team claiming local presence.

Alongside Whamos Ltd, we operate Technophobia Ltd — our sister company focused on custom WordPress plugin development, AI systems, and n8n automation. The Technophobia SEO plugin, TP PageForge, and our suite of bespoke WordPress plugins are all developed under the Technophobia brand. Both companies are based in Millom and operated by the same team.

We also operate Whamos Training and Development CIC — our community interest company providing device repairs (laptops, PCs, phones, and tablets) and technology training for individuals and businesses across South Cumbria. Device repairs are available via 01229 774591 option 2.

In 2024 Bill Amos published the Building Without Code book series — a six-volume series documenting the AI-assisted development methodology used across our real client projects, covering learner management systems, booking platforms, and more.

No stone left unturned. We care about getting things right. Every technical detail, every SEO signal, every accessibility requirement. Not because we have to — because doing it properly is the only way we know how to work. Clients who have worked with other agencies frequently comment on the difference.

Fixed prices and written specifications. Every project starts with a written specification covering every deliverable. The price is fixed against that specification before we start. No day rates, no scope creep on your invoice. If you want to add something, we quote it separately before implementing it.

Your custom-built work is yours. Every website, plugin, and application we build is delivered to the client. No platform lock-in, no proprietary systems. If you want to move to a different agency, you take everything with you.

Available when you need us. We are available outside normal office hours — within reason — for clients whose requirements are urgent. We are a small team in Millom. When you contact us, you get a response from someone who knows your project.

Honest, always. If a repair is not worth doing, we tell you. If an SEO strategy will not work for your market, we tell you. If a project is going to take longer than expected, we tell you before it becomes a problem. Honesty is more important to us than winning the next job.
